I grew up in rural Canada near the small town of Embro, Ontario, and spent my teen years in nearby Stratford. After graduating high school, I moved to Toronto to earn a degree in aerospace engineering at Ryerson University.

Early in my career, I was a consultant in the aerospace and automotive industries.
After a few years, I co-founded a consulting company with some colleagues, selling modeling and simulation software and teaching companies how to get the most out of it.
